IS HOME DETOX SAFE?

In the Publication, Detoxification From Alcohol and Other Drugs written by The United States Department of Health and Human Services in 1995, Dr. Ronald Wesson (Chair of Publication) quotes Gerstein and Harwood stating, "Detoxification may be undertaken successfully in most cases in a non-hospital, residential, partial daycare, or Ambulatory basis." Every client is medically cleared by a physician prior to detoxification. A nurse is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to address any problems or concerns of the client.

ARE THERE ANY EXCLUSIONS?

Clients who are severely medically compromised or have a history of seizures or a cerebral vascular accident (CVA) / stroke are generally not good candidates for in-home detox.

IS HOME DETOX NEW?

In-home detox is not a new concept. It has been done for many years for low-risk clients. Home Detox Inc. treats clients who are a low to moderate risk. Europe and Canada have used this safe, economical treatment modality since the 1980's. In-home detox has been successful in rural areas where detox centers are a long distance away from the client's home, and for clients who do not want to enter the detox center. In-home detox is considerably less expensive than an inpatient stay.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES?

One benefit that clients find attractive is the anonymity that in-home detox provides. The client is in his/her own home receiving treatment for the problem. Studies in Europe indicate that clients seek earlier treatment with in-home detox. Studies also indicated that women, not wanting to leave their families to go into a hospital, sought treatment through in-home detox. In-home detox is done in the privacy of one's home and the client has available to him/her any support they wish to have present. Clients who work can take a long weekend off and be detoxed. This saves lost time from work, and they can then attend Alcoholics Anynymous (AA) or Narcotcs Anonymous (NA) counseling during after-work hours.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS TO START HOME DETOX?

All it takes is a phone call to Home Detox, Inc. to begin the road to recovery. There will be a free in-office evaluation to explain the program to the client and screen the client prior to acceptance of treatment. The client is then taken to the physician's office to be evaluated and cleared medically for the detox. Afterward, they are brought back to the office to begin the detox process. The client must want sobriety. There must be a caregiver available during the detox period. It is strongly suggested that the client attend counseling and AA or NA for continued support.

HOW ARE SERVICES PAID FOR?

At this time Home Detox Inc. accepts Visa, Mastercard, Discover, cash or local check. Payment is due prior to treatment and is non-refundable once treatment begins.
